What is a SCORM player?

A SCORM package is a zipped folder of HTML, JavaScript, and media plus an imsmanifest.xml file that tells a Learning Management System how to launch the course. Because it is a .zip, you cannot simply open it to see the content. A SCORM player, or SCORM viewer, unpacks the package and runs the course the same way an LMS would, so you can preview it without uploading anything.

This free SCORM player runs entirely in your browser: your file is unzipped locally, the launch file is detected from the manifest, and the course is rendered in a secure in-page frame with a built-in SCORM API, so interactive content initializes correctly. It is the fastest way to check a SCORM file before you deliver it to learners.

SCORM Player FAQ

A SCORM player (also called a SCORM viewer) is a tool that opens and runs a SCORM package so you can watch the course without uploading it to a Learning Management System. This free SCORM player unzips your package in the browser and plays it instantly.

A SCORM course is a .zip package, so you cannot just double-click it. Upload the .zip here and the player unpacks it and launches the course automatically, no LMS or software required.

No. The package is unzipped and played entirely in your browser. Your SCORM file never leaves your device, which makes it fast and private.

The player works with standard SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 packages. Some courses that rely on LMS-specific behavior may not render perfectly, but most standard packages play as expected.

The most common reasons are a missing or malformed imsmanifest.xml, a non-standard launch file, or a package that depends on a specific LMS. To check a package in depth, use our SCORM Validator.

Because everything runs in your browser, very large packages use more memory. The player supports files up to 200 MB.
